Any weave in the line, fitted edge to edge. Send the room's dimensions and we will take it from there.

Odd Shapes

Angles, curves, whatever the floor plan asks. If you can draw it, we can cut and bind it.

Notched

Cut around a hearth, a stair, or a post. Draw it on the back of an envelope and we will make it.

Custom Rug Sizes, Edge Finishes and Shaped Cuts

Whitaker makes area rugs to custom dimensions with a choice of serging or binding for approved designers and retailers purchasing for resale. Choose a wool, natural fiber or indoor/outdoor rug, then specify the size and edge for the project. Rugs are cut, serged or bound, and finished to order in Charleston.

Start with the material and edge finish

Compare rug swatches with your flooring and fabrics, then place the binding sample against the chosen rug. Include the complete product name and edge finish in the order: Serged to Match, the default, or a cotton or Sunbrella binding.

The natural fiber collection of sisal, jute and seagrass is for indoor use only. A covered porch counts as an outdoor setting. For an outdoor project, use the indoor/outdoor collection: Edisto and Nantucket are P.E.T. (polyethylene terephthalate), and the other styles are polypropylene.

Order a rectangular rug

Use the selected product page to enter the custom dimensions and choose the edge finish. Check the room plan, furniture positions and door clearances before submitting the order. The FAQ includes Whitaker’s existing sizing information.

Request a notched or shaped rug

Send the workroom a dimensioned drawing for a notched rug, round rug, wall-to-wall project or another unusual shape. Include:

  • The rug style and edge finish you are considering.
  • The complete outline, with measurements and units clearly labeled.
  • Notches, fixed cabinetry, thresholds and relevant door clearances.
  • Delivery location and any fixed project date.

The workroom will review the plan and coordinate the quote with you.

Samples, shipping and returns

Approved trade customers can choose up to five free rug swatches with $10 shipping. Whitaker orders usually ship in 3–5 weeks. Transit time is additional. Contact the workroom before ordering for a fixed installation date.

Custom sizes are not returnable except for damage. Report damage within seven days of receipt. Read shipping and returns before placing the order.

Whitaker sells strictly to approved designers and retailers for resale. Direct purchases for personal use are not permitted. Apply for trade access or contact the workroom about a project.
