Natural Fiber

Whitaker’s natural fiber collection is a range of sisal, jute and seagrass area rugs made to custom dimensions with a choice of serging or binding. All three fibers are for indoor use only and must not be used outdoors, including on a covered porch. Wool rugs are listed in their own collection.

Each fiber has its own character. Sisal is the workhorse of the natural fibers, a crisp, precise weave that stands up to halls, stairs and offices while looking quietly dressed up, in GA, Herringbone, Sahara and Small Boucle. Jute is the softest underfoot, with a relaxed, organic texture suited to bedrooms, living rooms and low moisture spaces, in Lanai, Lanai Diamond, Pebble Beach and Sanibel. Classic Seagrass is naturally stain resistant and stands up to serious traffic, with a smooth, almost waxy hand and a subtle green cast that mellows to warm straw. Compare swatches to choose the fiber, then review the edge finish against your flooring.

Every rug is made to order in any size up to 13 by 40 feet, Serged to Match by default or bound in cotton or Sunbrella, and finished in Charleston. Nine standard stock sizes are also available.

Read the material-specific instructions in the Care Guide: vacuum on low suction with no beater bar, in the direction of the weave, and blot spills at once, because natural fiber is susceptible to staining. For an outdoor project, start with the polypropylene and P.E.T. rugs in the indoor/outdoor range.
